Here’s my rarely posted, unbiased view of Floyd when it comes to greatness:

      It’s there

and that’s where the frustration lies with ‘non-fans’

Floyd, IMO, is the most gifted fighter of this era…from a fundamental and balance between offensive and defensive standpoint, no one is as complete…he has ‘stepped’ his game up in every big fight in maintaining his perfect record

In any mythical matchups against welters, jr. welters or anyone else coming up, its not a matter of who will ‘beat’ Floyd, but rather, it’s a question of who will provide the best ‘challenge’

Floyd has(d) the goods to have cemented his legacy prior to his retirements and even now, with his imminent comeback

Floyd can beat Cotto, Clottey, Berto, Collazo, Mosely, Margarito, JMM, PAC, or anyone else you want throw in the mix

However, it’s all a matter of doing it…

And since leaving 135, there hasn’t been too many ‘showdown’ bouts that’s proven that he’s willing to do that

There is never denying his potential, but that alone cannot qualify him for greatness, them floyders always trying to take away Oscar's cred...take that away from Oscar,u take away 3/4 of floyd's resume alone with it,notice them floyders avoiding the truth like the plague!!!

sorry but that is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard of

so you mean to tell me Duran and Hagler were not ATGs at the time of their fights? Duran is arguably regarded as the best lightweight ever and Hagler's run at middleweight was only bested by Hopkins

only Hearns wasn't already considered great at the time they first fought.

Well at least ur a fan of the Punisher, but actually Hagler went most of his career being overlooked and as far as ur saying,Greatness is decided after a career, just like the hall of fame buddy,it is what your accomplishments were and the level of opposition!!

seriously Hagler starting getting the recognition he deserved right around the Minter fight if you followed his career you would know this. More and more he started getting key spots on TV against guys like Hamsho, Anterfuermo, etc. The man held the record for most title defenses, was defeating the stars coming up to face him and up until a controversial loss to SRL hadn't lost since 76. To me thats greatness and I don't need him retiring to assess that

so would you not consider Hopkins an ATG considering he is not retired yet?

It's greatness,I know Hagler is great,u got no argument there,Hopkins will be considered greater still after he retires,Lenox Lewis's greatness was questioned alot until his retirement, then there was no doubt, there are plenty of fighters that have gone trough that, floyd is being considered great now by some, but in a couple years that resume will seem padded, while Mosley's will be exhaulted,u are welcome to ur oppinion, but if u can't see the sense in mine, that seems quite shallow!!
