Thats exactly what is going to happen, the IBO is gonna be another belt in the mix to just further hurt the sport, get real people, wake up, this is reality, HBO is not gonna recognise the IBO, and trash the real ones, by everybody trying to strengthen the IBO, is just adding to the pain, it hurt when the WBO was added, now you want more, this is the reason why MMA is so big now and non of the youngsters watch boxing anymore, i challenge you to find somebody under 23 that prefers boxing to MMA?

there are plenty of people my age or younger on this website too, and I know a few people in my age group that prefer boxing over mma as well.

anyways, what we need to do is start trashing the old belts, one at a time. start small, and move on to something big.

It seems that Showtime is too scared of losing thses solid fights if they don't appease the sanctioning bodies.

Doesn't make much sense to me - the promoters need Showtime and the exposure it gives their fighters - what can the sanctioning bodies do about it if Showtime doesn't nuthug them? They can't force the promoters to boycott Showtime, surely - they would lose their most important revenue stream.

Also, that doesn't explain the mainstream newspaper coverage. Here's a recent example from the so-called boxing correspondent of the British newspaper The Independent:

As Britain's only universally recognised world champion (Hatton has an IBO belt, but that is just a piece of boxing bling) Froch understandably feels slighted. "British TV has shown some farcical fights in the past, but to snub one of this magnitude is a disgrace."

The fact that Hatton is Britain's only lineal and Ring world champion and that Froch is only ranked #6 at his weight doesn't register with this so-called boxing correspondent.

As you'll see if you follow the link and look at the comments section, I've tried to educate the author of the piece, but I doubt he reads the comments. The Independent is a print newspaper really, the website is just a secondary media for them (like the New York Times or Washington Post in the States).
