The ever increasing so called Mayweather duck list

I laugh at the "Cotto ducked Floyd at 140" talk because NOBODY was talking about that fight at all. Floyd was calling loads of names and Cotto's happen to be in there, but it was never a seriously discussed fight until 2007 when both were on a collision course to fight one another. It was talked about on ESPN, countless websites, by fans, etc.
When the fight mattered, Floyd was no where to be found. You guys gotta stop either being naive or bored trying to piss people off.
ESPN: Here's a letter from the Pond in the UK...it asks, When will you step in the ring with Miguel Cotto?"
Floyd: "(Pause...) I'd love to fight Miguel Cotto, but not yet. He has to build his fan base and become his own CEO"
If he's just now becoming a CEO (technically), what the hell was he when Floyd was "Calling" Cotto out?
Again, I'm a fan of Floyd's, but some of ya'll just have your heads waaaay up his ass LOL truthfully.Comment

I can agree with that.
The general consensus at the end of 2007 was pitting Floyd vs Cotto sometime in 2008, but as soon as word got around that Floyd was retiring, in came the Cotto vs Margarito fight. I agree it's a missed opprotunity for both, but it's tough to fault Cotto being he's not the most vocal guy but will indeed fight anyone. You can also throw in the Arum / Floyd beef, but I take that with a grain of salt too because Oscar's had his share of issues with Arum too and at the end of the day money seemed to be the "pacifier" for both parties.
I think eventually we'll see these 2 fight, but it may be a case of "Man, imagine if they would've fought 3-4 yrs ago".Comment

I get your point and I want to see a Floyd Cotto showdown badly. With that said I think more people should truthful about what was going on at the point in time we are talking about. Margarito called Floyd out but there were not many how felt he was an elite welter YET. The win over Cotto put him in that bracket. The Cotto/Floyd fight is the one we should be talking about in reference to a missed oppertunity. With that said both Floyd and Cotto made minimal efforts for that to actually happen. The blame falls on both. I made a thread a while back that went like 20 pages about this and in the end a lot of the Cotto and Floyds fans both acknoleged that neither fighter put effort into making the fight.
Please enlight us by making a list of those good fighters that Sharmba Mitchell defeated. As far as I remember he lost to the only 3 fighters worth mentioning on his average resume.Comment

Being beat doesn't equate to having a glass jaw. The two times Cotto had been rocked (Torres and Chop Chop), he came back and won both fights by KO (which with Chop Chop I agree was a bad stoppage, but you can see where Chop Chop was running out of ideas on how to stop Cotto by then)
He took a number of shots from Margarito which inevitably wore him down. Sue him LOL. Though I agree Cotto's jaw isn't the greatest, considering the fights he's had its far from being glass.Comment
