Arum said while Mayweather would have taken the $8 million to fight Margarito, he asked for a $10 million guarantee to fight opponents such as Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton, when Arum was only willing to guarantee $7 million.
Arum said Mayweather also asked for $20 million to fight De La Hoya, a fight Arum said he wasn't interested in participating in.
"That's not in the cards," Arum said. "He wants $20 million for the De La Hoya fight? It's not there. Sometimes, my man, you gotta know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. We'll talk about things down the road."
Floyd Mayweather Jr. rejected promoter Bob Arum's $8 million offer to fight welterweight titlist Antonio Margarito, and he instead exercised a provision in his contract to buy Arum out.

Mayweather was willing to fight Margarito. If Arum got him 20 million against Oscar. And 10 million against Cotto and Hatton.
Arum said 7 million against Cotto and Hatton. And no 20 millon against OscarComment

I laugh at the "Cotto ducked Floyd at 140" talk because NOBODY was talking about that fight at all. Floyd was calling loads of names and Cotto's happen to be in there, but it was never a seriously discussed fight until 2007 when both were on a collision course to fight one another. It was talked about on ESPN, countless websites, by fans, etc.
When the fight mattered, Floyd was no where to be found. You guys gotta stop either being naive or bored trying to piss people off.
ESPN: Here's a letter from the Pond in the UK...it asks, When will you step in the ring with Miguel Cotto?"
Floyd: "(Pause...) I'd love to fight Miguel Cotto, but not yet. He has to build his fan base and become his own CEO"
If he's just now becoming a CEO (technically), what the hell was he when Floyd was "Calling" Cotto out?
Again, I'm a fan of Floyd's, but some of ya'll just have your heads waaaay up his ass LOL truthfully.Last edited by RL_GMA; 04-20-2009, 01:30 PM.Comment

Started with Margarito, fair enough since he offered a fight
Hatton and Oscar were on the list until Floyd beat them suddenly they are not high risk at all
Then come Cotto
Then Mosley (A guy Floyd offered a fight twice before)
Then Clottey(A guy who had troubles a shot Judah)
Williams
Now even Berto is on the list
Bradley somehow
Carlos Q
Collazo as well
Next will be
Forrest
Segri
Kirkland
Santos
Why doesn't Mayweather a fight a REAL TOP Jr MWComment
