duran had his last great win against a near-prime top 5 super middleweight jorge fernando castro after being competitive with vinny paz and having a tough loss against hector camacho... the younger version of camacho who would destroy leonard 2 years after...

It was after the Barkley fight. Duran lost his next fight to journeyman Pat Lawlor because of an injury.

Duran had some good performances in his 40's but only against fighters that he could school with his experience.

The reason he did better than Leonard as an older fighter was mostly because he stayed active unlike Sugar Ray. Of course his style was also more likely to be successful in his 40's than Leonard's
