I grew up in America, and theyve treated me well. Im way more proud to say Im an American than to say I have Irish/German/Russian roots.

One thing I noticed is that hillbillies or rednecks always say they are Scots-Irish yet they sound neither Scottish or Irish.

I guess those are two acceptable cultures for american hillbillies to embrace

country accents are actually somewhat related to the Irish accent, if you listen really closely. changed a lot, but you can hear some simularities.
