Viloria is Emotional as Filipinos Embrace Him Again

Brian Viloria proved he had what some people suspect he didn’t possess – the courage and the fighting heart of a Filipino as he scored a stunning upset by knocking out IBF light flyweight champion Ulises Solis in the eleventh round of their title fight at the Araneta Coliseum on Saturday.

Man, after watching Viloria being outworked against lesser competition in the past, it's nice to see him put it together.

He definitely has the talent, and fwiw, Solis is no joke. He's an excellent boxer.

        Great fight.

Does types of courage and fighting heart differ from country to country?

Solis is a HUGE WIN for Villoria. I thought Solis will out hustle him. A very GOOD win for Villoria i hope he stays on that level in every fight.

I still remember him coming into the ring with the Hawaiian flag on Friday Night Fights. Knocked the dude out with his first punch.

He does it all the time. After a clinch or a round starts, the first thing he does is dive lunge for a left hook.

That being said, his coaches have done an amazing job on him. The reason why they had him fighting too much was probably to build his confidence and balls up. You can have all the talent in the world, but if you don't have the confidence, you won't have the will to do anything.

Very impressive win by Viloria. Solis is one tough man and Viloria seemed to be getting tired in the middle rounds but he's shown he's got the heart of a champion. Some fighters get discouraged after setbacks but Viloria was determined to regain the status he once held. Hopefully, he can continue to give great performances like the one yesterday.
