Mayweather Vs Marquez MIGHT be at a catchweight

I had a look around and it seems this fight might be at 144 pounds. This came from one of the Admin at another fight forum

Fight looks like it could be HBO PPV which is why its been moved to July 18th

If its at a catchweight, does mayweather get more credit if he wins?

no, the fight has to be at 140 lbs for mayweather to get ANY credit at all and even then it will be overshadowed by marquez's weight.

if you're the best fight the ****ing best. mayweather claims he#s the best ever and the best at 147, he has to fight at 147. you dont see cotto picking on small lightweights do you? he fights mosley, margarito and now clottey 3 big men at 147.

To be fair to mayweather, Marquez was man enough to call him out, he's gotta be man enough to gain the pounds no?

You do realize that even Pac at lightweight when he fought Diaz weighed in at 147 by fight-time, right?
Floyd comes in at 147-149 for his WW fights. At least that was what he was coming in at when he was active.

Not sure on JMM weight by fight-time but somebody mentioned he was 140.

So if JMM comes in at 140, he is a true JrWW while Floyd is a true WW by actual division weight. So really, JMM would only be moving up one division if Floyd comes in at 147 by fight-time.

How much credit can you really get for wanting to win the fight on the scales?
Well, maybe a lot given the many that don't care.

I actually hope this fight gets made, mismatch or not. I know JMM will be a massive underdog at any weight over 140, but I would be rooting for him to pull the upset and teach Mayweather about cherry-picking...

            Cherry picking?

            Its a tune up.

Marquez called him out, Marquez is getting what he wants.

Yeah but many expect the fight to be at 147.

If the fight is at 144 instead, which a few have said will be the case, would you give mayweather the credit for dropping the few extra pounds and winning?

Loads of fighters call Mayweather out. He just so happened to pick one of the smallest guys.
