Floyd's return date had to be moved because of UFC 100

Sources close to the situation have just informed us that it's looking more and more like retired pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. will make his return this summer against WBA & WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez.

Mayweather was originally rumored to make his return on July 11, the same date as UFC 100, against an opponent yet to be named. Apparently, after much debate over the weight at which the fight would take place, both Mayweather and Marquez are now close to agreeing to face each other on July 18.

Any big sporting event would have boxers consider a different date, it's not just UFC, so the poll is unfair/misleading. You wouldn't want to schedule a fight on the superbowl or ****, even the Kentucky derby has fighters looking for other dates.

So wait...Boxing "Biggest Draw" has to move to another date because of UFC??? LOL though I think it's a smart business move on whomever's promoting the Mayweather fight, it further proves to me how bad a lot of people here overate Floyd's star power.

      And BTW...UFC 100 IS STACKED!!!

UFC ppv's usually do around 700k-1million buys. This HAS to have an effect on boxing given that both events are held on the same night.

But according to most boxing snobs, UFC is a sport made up of a bunch of unskilled bar-room brawlers, and doesnt have **** on boxing.

I don't understand what the problem is. Like I mentioned above, any big sporting event (and UFC 100 is a big sporting event) will have fighters look for other dates so they can maximize their audience. Nothing wrong with that, it's smart.

Who says that? Look there are idiots on both side of the equation, MMA junkies/elitists/fanboys, same goes with boxing. Why discuss the ******ed? Let's move on.

Stacked indeed, I think even Dela Hoya as a fighter would've avoided this card like a plague

Its not that they are scared of UFC. You wouldn't want your biggest attraction to go up against any major sporting event. UFC 100 will attract people obviously so why pit it up against it? That would be a mistake because you would be losing possible viewers. Just like the UFC wouldn't be happy if boxing was to say f it and still put it on that date. Its dumb business to pit your sport up against any huge sporting event.
