cotto needs a real trainer. roach is the best, but with cotto's talent, he can make due w/ goosen or mcgirt or even ronnie shields.

cotto just needs someone to fix that leaky defense and give him a good gameplan.

I was just listening to the weekly radio show "Through the Ropes" and Freddie Roach was asked if he could name a fighter he would like to train, that he hadn't had a chance with.

Roach mentioned Miguel Cotto and said that he could make him a better fighter. Roach implied that one of Cotto's problem is a lack of alternative plan, and he used the Margarito fight as an example.

Do you think Roach & Cotto will make a good team?

Roach talks a lot but he has done wonders for Pacquiao. Cotto + Roach would definitely work

The only possibility I see that happening is if Cotto gets knocked out early in the fight or gets really embarrassed in the ring and the trainer becomes the scapegoat. If Cotto wanted a high profile trainer he would've went with Emmanel Steward who had publicly expressed interest in training Miguel.
