If anyone lost out on a major payday, it was undefeated junior middleweight prospect Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. For the last few years, a revenge bout between Chavez Jr. and De La Hoya was slowly cooking. During his 17-year pro career, De La Hoya stopped Chavez' father, Julio Sr, twice. Since the day he made his pro debut, the goal of Chavez Jr. was to get De La Hoya in the ring to avenge the family honor. The day for revenge will never come as De La Hoya announced his retirement on Wednesday. [details]

This guy is delusional , who does he think he is? Just because he has Chavez in his name doesnt make him a great fighter, he has fought bum in his entire career. Hes been a protected fighter and once he fights the real fighters, hes gonna taste his first defeat.
No way he beats Pac even with his height advantage. Hes a class C fighter and so overhyped.Comment

Chavez Jr. might be a marketable commodity in Mexico, but Arum is overestimating how much he is worth to the sport. Many ***** about how good or bad Chavez is, the kid has some skill but isn't a world-class talent, so what. Most of his fights are entertaining, and a fight with the equally overhyped and underappreciated John Duddy would be a great fight. The winner obviously has a notable name on their radar and the loser goes back to the upper-class club circuit. BTW, Pacquiao, not an option for Chavez Jr., really I mean do they think he belongs in the ring with him? Bad PR campaign to be honest.Comment
