    Was Hopkins-DLH Fixed?

I just watched the fight again. It seemed thrown. Both guys did nothing, it looked like an easy sparring session. Then, going into round 9, Hopkins tells Bouie Fisher (where is he these days?) "This is my round!! It's over, this is my round" repeatedly. Then, a phantom liver punch later, a horrible acting job by DLH, and a screwjob on Arum (**** Arum anyway, Hopkins joining GBP as a partner after saying he was joining Top Rank). Now DLH saying that was the moment he hated the most. Despite the fact he was a huge underdog and held his own during most of the sparring session. Knowing this, watch the 'fight' again, and draw your own conclusions.

Yes this was fixed. If DLH didn't take a dive then, Hop would've knocked him clean out with a headshot in the 12th so DLH chose to take the lesser of the two evils.

I love fixed fights! It's like going to the movies, or watching wrestling.
Hop was smart to carry Oscar for a while and even make him look good at times.

That part was the good acting and Oscar worthy. The knockout itself should've been worked on more during rehearsals.

If there's anything "controversial" about it, it would probably be that DLH could have gotten up, but Hopkins knew he was taking the fight over and he was really coming on landing rights and everything.

The "BODY SHOT! BODY SHOT! BODY SHOT! OH OSCAR, OSCAR LOOK OUT!!" is what makes it seem like it's fake, but that's way to ****ing obvious and ****m yells **** like that out all the time. The replay clearly shows the punch being thrown and connecting. It was a pretty hard shot that definietly floored him.

I kind of wonder if he could actually have gotten up though

I'd like to think not but the whole thing is dodgy.

First thgouht when I saw that KO to the body was "what the hell is Oscar joking around or something" then when I saw him stay down for the count me and my dad both agreed it was fixed. After a few years i kinda just let it slide and thought maybe Oscar just couldn't take that punch and the fight was real afterall. Till this day I'm still clueless about that fight.

DLH took a dive. I think he should retire.

I think it was fixed, because I know Bhop has more talent in his left pinky and the fight would have been more one-sided

Oh yeah. I forgot about the "body shot x!!!! Body shot!!! Oscar, body shot!!" Ten seconds later it's over.

The fight wasn't fixed. People who think its fixed can't digest the fact that the KO punch wasn't 100% visible at first - like the Ali phantom punch. Once you go back to look at these things you can see the shots were real and you can say all you want that you would get up from a shot like that, but Oscar couldn't, and despite the fact Oscar loves business, he also hates to lose.
