Boxing is not like riding a bicycle

Has anyone here ever had the experience of going to the boxing gym regularly like a year or so then stopped for what ever reason. Then maybe some years later you go back to the gym thinking you were going to pick up where you left off as if this was like riding a bicycle, but found out this was not the case. This happened to me, several months ago where I thought it as going to be like when I was 16 but the timing of my jab was way of and my technique and stance were just lousy, everything was just bad and I had to start from basics. I later did improve again but I was wondering is it like that for everyone?

This has happened to me after taking only a month off with some drinking mixed in. lol

But no seriously every time I take a break of EVEN a week and I notice the difference mainly in sparring, those last 30 seconds of a round seem much...much harder

Nah it is like riding a bike or anything else.

Your problem is the level you want to perform at. If you don't train for a while you would still be able to throw punches and that is the equivilent of riding the bike. If you're used to do tricks on your bike like back flips and going down and up half pipes you stop doing that for a whil you're going to be in a similar situation as you are with boxing.
