It'll hype up that dream match immensely. In the public's eye, it will look like this:
Pacman:
TKOs Oscar
TKOs Hatton brutally
Mayweather:
Split decisions Oscar
Outclasses and knocks out Hatton with a perfectly timed hook
What's gonna' look better to them?
I understand that Oscar at 154 was a much better fighter than the sad version of him at 147, but it shouldn't take all the credit from Pacquiao, he looked spectacular in his own right.
Sloppy seconds? Judah, Mitchell, Gatti...
Even supposing Mayweather beat a competitive Oscar (at Oscar's weight, glove size, etc), Pacquiao's potentially earth-shattering victory over Hatton in a TKO fashion (given his power) will elevate his status since you have to take into consideration that, contrary to Floyd, Pacquiao is moving INTO Hatton's weight class, not like in December 2007.
Not saying the weight had a large role in Hatton's first loss, but just a detail. As fight fans, we have to savor this moment that we're getting with Pacquiao/Hatton. A potential fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather...well THAT would just be amazing...and if Pacquiao beats him...what a remarkable story Pacquiao will have to tell...
Sorry, I get wrapped in this.
