Oscar De La Hoya Promises To Never Return Again

Former six division champion Oscar De La Hoya, who announced his retirement from the sport on Tuesday, is promising to never return again. De La Hoya, 36, lost four of his last seven fights, including a one-sided beating at the hands of Manny Pacquiao last December. Pacquiao, with only one fight under his belt at lightweight, moved up by two weight divisions to meet De La Hoya at welterweight. Oscar was a heavy favorite to win. The one-sided nature of the fight was even surprising to the few who picked Pacquiao to win.

Thank goodness... sigh of relief... I've treated DLH pretty rough these last couple of years... I respect him alot though... I admire his courage and willingness to compare his skill set to the other top fighters. It just comes a time where you just need to realize you are not even average anymore. His sparring partners were beating him up.. Thanks for the moments Oscar. Hopefully his "fight the best fighters" mentality sticks true even in the promotional aspect of the sport... He can help save boxing... Pac v JMM 3, Hatton v Cotto and Mosley, B-hop v Dawson... I hope he signs Cotto. Floyd v everyone... lets get it done Oscar...
