I gotta give Williams some props

I gotta give Williams some props. In the past ive have been baffled by the praise lavished on him, and rightly so imo. However since the Quintana fight he definitely has improved as a fighter. Ive seen his all his fights from the Quintana defeat and even though i thought he had improved then i could not take it seriously, because he was fighting the likes of Kolle,Phillips etc.

Against Winky he showed me a lot more, and it just confirmed how much he has learned from that Quintana loss. Ive always said he lacked a Boxing brain and he is just a punching machine. Harsh i know, but TBH all i had seen from him upto that point was activity/punch output and him being labelled the new Tommy Hearns. He has never shown the shoulder rolls, pivoting, slipping, head movement, creating the angles to punch off etc.

I was impressed with his defence even though he still got hit solidly a few times. I mean dont get me wrong i dont fancy his chances if he gets hit like that by Abraham or Pavlik, but his defence has improved a lot more. He will never not get hit solidly though imo, because he is that tall. When you are 6ft 1 and you are fighting guys that are 5ft 10 you are always gonna find it difficult to get out the way of everything, because you present that much of a big target area.

I give him props too. But he still is over hyped. I want to see him against a skilled boxer with good movement. I think it is his weakness. Williams looks best when he is able to plant his feet and tee off. Winky Wright was perfect for that and so was Margarito. The one time he fought someone who showed him a lot of movement, he lost. So we'll see.

Gotta agree with that. Winky presented more of a punching bag routine. Than a slick mover like Quintana. I still think he is overrated, but i give him his dues for that win, because he did give Winky a beating.
