I liked "Pretty Boy" Floyd but I wasn't so keen on "Money Mayweather" even though Money Mayweather was needed for him to make that money.
It's like what he said when he fought Oscar in the build-up: you need a bad guy so he will play the part.

I like to separate the two. To me, they fight different as well. One goes out to win from the start to prove himself and makes sure the judges know who the winner is while earning his pay-check, and the other; cashed the check before-hand and is looking to do just enough to win and then talks about how Great he is afterwards while crying.

including myself,in a way Floyd is fake. He's a great fighter and is a hall of famer, but his persona is fake. We see him throwing money around and being flamboyant...I doubt he really conducts himself like that.

Before the Gatti fight he acted like a mean guy who the fans sort of disliked...but from the Judah fight on he wanted to be mainstream and liked by the boxing public.

Floyd talked about how Oscar keeps his words clean, doesn't swear and so on, and is supposedly "fake" but Floyd wanted to be like Oscar and crossover. He wanted Oscar's popularity. Funny how Floyd says Oscar wanted to fight like him, and is the reason he hired Mayweather Sr...


Of course he still talked shyt during press conferences and so, but we all know that's for the cameras. I think Floyd couldn't decide who he wanted to be. Doesn't take away from his boxing ability though.

It's business and until his business moves cost him a fight he will keep doing this...I will admit he should fight more if he wants to become the greatest ever , but its his life and his career he can fight or not fight and it will be on his terms either way.
