Just like in basketball. The best coaches aren't necessarily the best players.
Michael Moorer as a trainer

Many former champs etc dont become trainers because... they made so much money in their fighting days that they dont have the desire to go to the gym every day again, to put the time in, to go through the craziness (believe me, dealing with the fighters and the different personalities etc etc can be VERY frustrating, irritating, difficult). Also, Michael was a very good professional with a stellar history as both an amateur and as a pro (he was nationally rated at both 156 and 165 and was a legit national champion at 156). Just because he got stopped as a pro by big punching guys means he wouldnt be a good trainer? Theres no way to say if ANYONE would be a good trainer based on their FIGHTING career, it is two different thingsComment

i remember moorer being labelled a reluctant fighter...almost like he had a distaste for the sport...he was a smart enough boxer though. watching him in a recent interview i felt like not much has changed...theres no passion or intensity there. i dont think he'll become one of the great trainers.Comment

Michael Moorer's move to train to become a trainer impressed me though he was not so impressive champion. I like guys who still love the sport even though they are retired...
I think he could be a great trainer someday and he has a very big chance to sell himself while he is with Manny and Freddie. Not a lot of former boxers are given this kind of opportunity and I think there are some few are are jealous of him...
Do you think he could be a great trainer someday? Your opinion please..Comment
