    It's ok for Dawson?

Why is it ok for Chad Dawson to fight Tarver and Johnson who are old (a lot of people think Johnson won) yet Calzaghe is a wimp for it apparently?

I rate Dawson highly, he's clearly an excellent boxer who may very well have too much for Calzaghe if they fought at this stage of their respective careers but why do people hate on Joe so much yet not criticize Dawson for the same thing?

You seem to be forgetting one thing.

    Dawson is American.

Tarver and Johnson are credible and had something left in the tank when they fought Dawson unlike Roy Jones, but I see what you mean, and Calzaghe does get a bit of unfair criticism.

Hopkins and Calzaghe didn't want any part of Dawson. Apart from those guys, who else can he fight?

He beat Adamek, Johnson and Tarver, but has to fight Tarver because of a rematch clause.

His called out everyone. Nobody fancies it. Not Dawson's fault!

Hopkins clearly has a lot left, and is a p4p fighter, so Calzaghe gets no slack from me for taking that fight.

              Dawson is 26 years old

Dawson is NOT considered an all time great after beating Tarver & Johnson. He's just begun really making a name for himself.

Also, right now at Light Heavyweight, there aren't any young stars, all the guys are old

                Oh, let's see.

One's supposedly an ATG, who ended his career by fighting two fighters who would almost certainly (IMHO) have beaten him if he had fought them when they were younger, had he bothered venturing over and making a name for himself in America, like other British boxers have done in the past (Lennox, Hatton, Naz), until they had no option but to fight him, rather than verbally potshotting from Wales and demanding p4pers come and fight him at the home of boxing; Cardiff.

The other is a (relatively) young fighter, who is making the transition from prospect to fully fledged star, and, from what I know, isn't retiring having beefed up his thin resume and fat bank account by fighting Tarver and Johnson.

                Dawson is just starting.

Calslappy has finished. On the corpse of Roy Jones Jr.

                That answer it for you?

I give Calzaghe credit for Hopkins, but Jones was well passed it.

I give Dawson credit for both his wins but more for the Johnson win. Tarver is quite passed it as well, however Tarver hasn't been KO'd viciously and Dawson is/was trying to clean up the division. Not his fault that the top guys are over 35. He's also not in his prime/about to retire from the sport, like Calzaghe was/is.

At the end of the day if jones was in good enough shape to feel like he belonged in the ring and his fans should pay to see him then he was good enough to fight.
