...and Mayweather at 147 is much smaller than DLH. Floyd flat out can't make 140, especially in a tune up fight. Just because the fight is at 147 doesn't mean Marquez has to weigh 147. He could come in at 141. The weight difference would be much smaller than a lot of fights. Ex. Mosley-Mayorga at 154 (Mosley 160, Mayorga 170). Fight night Mayweather vs Marquez would be like 148-143, not bad at all.

No way because Pacquio has said he will fight at 147 again if the opportunity arises... and you can beat your ass if Mayweather comes-a-calling then Pacquio will move up to 147 for the fight with no complaint... Marquez is just scared plain and simple this proves he is not pacquios equal

Only Floyd would want JMM to skip over a full dividion to fight him at 147.

If the fight falls apart I can already see Floyd pulling a whole"I offered him the fight but he didn't want it" excuse.

Freddie Roach has said if they fight Mayweather it would be at a catchweight.

I've heard otherwise from Pacquio that he would fight at 147 again if the right fight comes along (hint: mayweather/cotto)... but i think a catch weight between a juior welter and welterweight is ridiculous the junior welter should just move up to 147 especially against mayweather seeing that he's gonnna come in at 147 anyways the day of the fight and Pacquio will probably come in even more then that...

Oh so now Floyd cant make 140? So he gets to fight smaller guys at 147 instead? You cant have it both ways. I think Floyd could make 140, he just wants the advantage. I dont blame him for trying, SRL and DLH were the same way. I just dont think JMM will be as effective at 147.

which is exactly my biggest gripe with the potential JMM-Mayweather fight to begin with. Marquez has just established himself as a lightweight with the victories over Casamayor and most recently Juan Diaz

JMM hasn't even tested himself at 140 ... so to fight above that division is kind of crazy ... despite the fact that it might be the only way to make a fight vs Floyd.

yeah I've personally always hated catchweight bouts to begin with (what does beating a man at an odd weight really prove?)

why not fight at an actual weight class? 145 is a catchweight, as is 144 what's the big gripe about catchweights? both of the weights are over 140 and considered Welter, so just fight at Welterweight.
