It was a joke that's why he said "Floyd you do nothing but **** around here don't you!" and then shown he was wearing a thong... it was meant to be a random joke, that's why Floyd, Sr. burst out laughing saying "Ricky, why are you wearing a thong?!" because he knew it was a joke. I doubt he wears them all the time but I wouldn't know or care what kinda underwear he usually wears to be honest with you!
