SOUTHPAW!!!! Its a huge advantage in boxing. I dont care what anyone says. Pac, Calzaghe, and Valero are good but they wouldnt be half as scary if they werent Southpaws. JMM would kill Pac if he was an orthdox fighter. Its even the same with Paul Williams. All would still be good fighters but its a big time advantage for them.
The reason why I made this thread is because of the fight tonight. 1st off Im a big Chop fan so I always root for him. I didnt even know about the fight tonight with the young Prospect and was pleasently surprised when I was watching FNF's and they were on there. However, I immediatly said the same thing that I say on these boards all the time. Never ever ever put a young guy in the ring with a Vetran Southpaw. Youre just asking for trouble. I know that Chop would give him hell and then everyone would say that Sanchez sucks. He doesnt suck, its just going to be hard for 90% of young guys to beat a vetran Southpaw. Shoot, its even hard for most vets to beat them.
Its the same thing I said going into the Berto-Collazo fight. I knew Berto would have hell with that vetran Southpaw and I said that he would probably look as good in the ring with Mosley as he would with Collazo even though Mosley is much better then Collazo. Just because Berto & Sanchez struggled, doesnt mean they ******. BTW, I had both Berto & Sanchez winning the fight. Very close fights but I gave it to them. There is a reason why Chop hurt Cotto and it wasnt because he was at 140. There is a reason why Floyd has never been hurt at all in his career except against Chop. The other time he took some clean punches was against Zab. There is a reason why MAB did his normal perfect D against Pac in there 1st fight but still got dropped.
Why RJ had the perfect D against Tarver and still got caught clean square in his nose by a blind punch and got KO by Tarver. Why Wlad got destroyed by Sanders. 1st he couldnt see the punches coming and then he could see them coming from a mile away and still couldnt stop it. There is a reason why Williams has dominated everyone but got beat pretty clean over 12 rounds against Quintana. Thats right, Southpaws have fits with Southpaws too and because of that, dont be surprised if Winky does the same thing to him tomorrow.
Basicaly, keep the young guys away from Southpaws unless they have sparred a ton with them. Still, I would keep them away from Vetran Southpaws or you are just asking for trouble. These guys arent bums if they struggle. Its just that the Southpaw stance can give you alot of trouble. Thats why I always say that the only 2 ways to beat Floyd are to be way bigger then him to the point where its just too much for him to handle, or be a Southpaw and catch him with some blind punches. A righty wont hit him clean in his prime but a Southpaw could still shoot it straight down the pipe even when he has that perfect D. Thats why he started switch to the Winky style D against the Southpaws
