why is hatton one demensional, swarmer/wrestling type?

I'm a fan of hatton but I rarely see him box, he is always rushing inside to swarm and grapple his opponents. simply put he is one dimensional, but why?

My theory is that he is much shorter and has a significant reach disadvantage compared to his opponents at JWW.

In turn this can be applied to all shorter fighters with shorter armlength/ wingspan.
