There appears to be a lot of speculation in the UK that Amir Khan, based on his shocking move to junior welterweight, is trying to position himself in the direction of a mega-fight with superstar countryman Ricky Hatton. In the past Khan has spoken about the possibility of fighting Hatton one day in the future, and appeared confident that his style would present "The Hitman" with too many problems to overcome. warren should've talked to roach before moving khan upComment

Boxing is part business, but it's also part sport. There would be no business if it weren't for the sport.
From a sporting point of view, no one will take him seriously as a paper champion if they think he hasn't got the guts to fight the guy who sparked him in less than 1 minute. Provided Prescott keeps winning, a rematch should do good box office in any case.
And from the point of view of his development as a boxer, Khan is still a novice. He's only had two fights under Roach, both of them meaningless. He needs some learning fights under Roach to develop him, or else he'll turn into another David Reid, who rushed to a premature paper title and then got beaten up so badly by his first truly world class opponent that he was never the same again. In 2-3 fights time, a Prescott rematch would be a good learning fight for Khan, if Roach develops him right, and would lay to rest a few ghosts. Unfortunately, my worry is that he'll be beaten before that, because he's being rushed too fast (after being over-protected during his early career - it's one extreme or the other with Warren).
Freddie actually has not worked a corner for a single amir khan fight. He's trained him for a couple fights, but they have not actually been together for a fight. This young man is being rushed & brought up the wrong way by his handlers. He can only run away from legitimate challenges for so long. Sooner or laer he will have to face his conqueror Prescott or a stiff challenge.
Khan is the epitome of a star being made into a great fighter instead of a figther being made into a star.Comment

He went 20 fights without facing any competition that he could learn from. Then he fought Prescott and got exposed. He needs learning fights against people that can test him, but who are not quite elite; and he needs at least a couple more of those with Roach before stepping up to true world class competition.
I agree that he's gone from fighting completely meaningless fights that he learnt nothing from, to being rushed. Cotto and Dawson are good examples of the right way to match a young prospect.Comment

Roach was in Khan's corner for the Barrera fight.

Youre right. He was in his corner. Fredie trains so many fighters its hard to keep track of him. But career wise, its the right move for khan, his frame was too big for lightweight anyway & its a safer choice to win a world title vs kotelnik @ 140 rather than @ 135 vs valero or marquez. All the money guys are at 140 too.Comment
