Roach Still Mulling Over Final Decision To Train Margarito

Because most people believe that Margarito must have known.

It's almost impossible to prove either way, but his actions so far have not helped his case, and in any case, most boxers don't believe it would have been possible for him not to notice that there was something wrong with his knuckle pads.

But if he really didn't know, why hasn't he condemned his trainer? Why hasn't he taken a lie detector test? Why hasn't he expressed outrage and shame over what he could have done to Mosley if he hadn't been caught?

All these things combined make most neutrals believe that the chances that he didn't know are negligible.

Having said that, I think Roach is an honest man, and that he is genuine when he says that he thinks it is possible, having spoken to the guy, that he didn't know. But given all the above, I think it would be wrong for him to get involved with Margarito.

All valid statements but don't you think Roach can judge his character better then the rest of us since he actually talked to the guy? In all fairness the only thing me and you have to judge Tony's credability by are sensationalized news stories that don't give anyone a fair shake no matter what the writers opinions mights be.

As far as him not ****ting on his trainer I would have to say it's becasue they have an almost father and son like relationship. And who's to say they havn't had that conversation behind closed doors.

You're showing your ignorance. Roach is already one of the three most well known and respected trainers in the world. He can train whom he likes and has hundreds of people on his waiting list. If anything, this will harm him commercially because some people will lose respect for him because of it. I think he's being naive and is showing bad judgement, but he is not doing it for commercial reasons.

He's not innocent but he's showing bad judgement in this case, IMO, and that's a sort of naivete. He could get just as much money from many other fighters and has the reputation to be able to pick and choose almost any fighter he likes. He's not driven primarily by money. When Pac fought DLH, Roach agreed to waive his fee if Pac lost. And he's getting over-stretched as it is, which is why he recently had to take on Moorer.

Lots of people have been taken in by talking to other people. And he's only had one telephone conversation with the guy, it's not as if he knows him intimately. But many people who have known other people intimately have been taken in by them.

Roach himself is a former fighter who is currently suffering health issues because of his career in the ring. I think out of anyone he is more qualified than any ****** journalist, blogger, or boxing pundit to determin how genuine Tony is being about his situation.

I didn't base what I said on any journalist's opinions, or on the opinions of any bloggers.

Marg knows he cheated all this time...sad...cheaters in boxing should be banned from the sport for life. Punching someone with a cement like substance inside their gloves could be fatal....

Yeah, he should be banned for life .. provided the law speaks by your tongue and got lucky as your wish comes true! Why not let the law works and whatever judgement at the end, Margarito should abide and that's what matter most. And if he's through with the penalty imposed, and still would be eligible to fight again, then why not allow him to join the mainstream?

One of our neighbor wanted to kill someone out of whatever reason, and his plan foiled after he got caught possessing a gun by the police. He spent seven years behind bar as a result, but when he was finally released after seving the penalty, society embraced him again. He got a new job, sweeter family relations, and his friends came back and made more new friends! And his released happened 15 years ago and still he's enjoying good life!

What happened if the society ostracized him? Does it make him good or worse? There's no differene from boxing offenses. The offense are considered grave because they almost killed persons, but the fact they didn't kill a persons, and the fact they had suffered the consequence of their actions. Now the table is on us to give them the chance to mend their ways, and the like of Margarito, do you think he is not capable of changing?

I believe, if Roach with him he will not just forget the issue of Plaster in Paris, but hate it everytime it come across to his mind, because he would be reaping victory after victory without that stuff. He could be a champion again with his polished natural ability.
