Khan-Kotelnik: What Does Amir’s Choice of Opponent Say About Him?

I’m finding it hard to see Amir Khan’s (20-1, 15 KOs) choice of WBC light welterweight champion Andriy Kotelnik (31-2-1, 13 KOs) as his next opponent in a favorable light. Oh, yeah, the name of the game is getting a title shot above all, but when you do it by jumping out of your own division (lightweight) to find easier pickings elsewhere, it seems as if you’re trying to pull one over on the boxing public....................what do you guys think ????

Khan sucks. He went on camera recently and said Kotelnik was the worst world champion. Next thing you know, he's gonna be fighting him. Typical, really.

Have you heard youself, "trying to pull one over the boxing public..." as though Khan is some con-man and everyone is being taken for a ride. You don't know **** all mate.

Khan's stock is growing, he brings lots and lots of money to the table and is popular amongst Britain's ******s and indigenous population. He's also a name now in America and higly rated by Roach and Manny (who are better judges than you). He also defeated a legend (you can whine all day about how dubious it was but a win is still a win) and is now stepping UP a division where there are bigger, stronger and harder hitting opponents and fighting for a title.

What exactly is your problem with Khan? Are you hating because he is Pakistan? ******? Doesnt deserve a shot or just a moron with no mind of his own and has jumped the bandwagon with other sheep and decided to have a go as well?

He deserves his shot just as much as other people. This is also a business decision. This is also why people like you - dumb people - get nowhere in life because they dont understand anything other than simple black and white events.

So what? David Haye has insulted Wladimir Klitschko for the last 12 months. He's fighting him next.

People talk trash before fighting each other or is it a different rule with Amir Khan?

Sky will dmeand big fights for Khan, the casual fans want to see him for a world title, and his managment know he's not ready for a big fight so that was the best move.
Its a good move (for Khan) as far as I'm concerned, he should win the fight. Its what happons after that that concerns me, who will he defend it against? Pretty much all of the top 10 at 140 would KO him. I can see him having some pretty pointless defences.

The fight is good,Kotelnik is a very good fighter, very good counter puncher, pretty fast too altough lacking true power.

He talked **** about Kotelnik before any plans to fight him were announced. That's not trash talking to hype a fight.

He sees Kotelnik as a weak, terrible champion who can easily be beaten. Fair enough, but I guarantee you he'll be bigging him up soon enough and trying to make out like he's a threat. It's bull****. Khan has skills but you know as well as any of us that he's gonna get sparked out when he has the balls to step up and fight some real competition.

Difference with Haye is he's taking on the best in the heavy division, not some weak, cherry-picked opponent who he can easily grab a title from. THAT is the big difference here.

Name 5 credible apponents? can't be serious? hes preety at the start of his career, you can't call him for picking Kotelnik the guy is a world champion it's not like Khan is World champion himself and not fighting the best if anyone should be called it's Kotelnik for not taking a fight against somone whos done more and deserved the title shot. Although I'd of prefered Khan to of avenged his loss before going after a championship belt and maybe a fight with murray, but cong**** to him on securing a title fight considering he hasn't done much yet just seems a bit to quick.
