EDIT: LOL sorry for the long ass post drugs are bad.... has some cotto refrences though Uf you read it all though lol...
It's hard to say what there relationship is like.. but if cotto started it he should know better and would show hes lack of discipline.. from the coto marg hype vid it looked like cotto did whatever he wanted hes trainer would just hold the mitts and observe..
Guy might be an ass but in the end you're suupose toi learn suppose to learn from your trainer, he's not suppose to learn from you hes training you to be the best not the worst.. this is been going on for awhile aswell.. either cotto is just an stuck up ass or hes trainer just an ******* and working with your family ain gunna work especially if you dont like them..
When in boxing our trainer would always be hard on us slap us around on the mits not just slaps pretty full blows (old lil fast cuban guy lol) id bring my hand up and catch most of them on my gloves but then you could tell he was pissed and he would take me a couple rounds until i was tired and then start getting me good.
It was like we always should rely on hes technique every other way was the wrong way.. which is good but made training hard because he would give you such a hard time, but when it came to fighting and sparring I used most of stuff he tought me (especially passive, and defense.) but never felt comfortable and flexable was kind of robotic.. he would make it look so smooth easy.. but with well over 400 fights boxing since he was like 6 and now 52, training a couple gold medalist...
And when watching other guys that did great in the gym with all the defense and getting the technique 100%percent fight, as soon as they hoped in the ring it all when out the window and it would dissapoint him, because he's used to training gold medalists and guys with like 300 fights so there technique is down par.
The crazy cuban guy was hitting us with skipping ropes if we ****ed up on heavy bag or a technique was wrong, we wern't allowed to drink water (alot of the guys would sneak in a drink from the water fountine lol) he'd catch you and give you the biggest evils lol
I was only one that didn't get the skipping rope that night lol, and i think i was the only one aware of what was about to happen when he grabbed it aswell lol.. It's funny i heard stories about him before from one of my dads mate that there's this crazy cuban guy training fighters at the gym he visists.. and when our old trainer retired and the owner got in this cuban dude i was like OH ****... I hope it's not that crazy ****er.
It also motivated us to try harder, not alot of the guys could take hes training it was 2 hours 6 days a week nonstop boxing, sprints, sparring everyday lots of shadowboxing and alot and alot of technique training.. When ever someone was caught looking at the clock got everyone in the claass added on 15 mins of extra training..
But yeah when training was over he was a real nice guy to talk to. will tell you how impressed he was and gave you those few words of motivation that makes you come back the next day and think it's all worth... Very funny dude, just very passionate about boxing which most of these trainers arn't.. the trainer should be the one to take control and organise hes training intead of him doing hes owm thing..
That's what pissed me off about hatton he i agree about having some fun and yeah going out clubbing and partys but you don't have to go full out and blow up as big as he does, but you have the 1# p4p you're going to fight he and he wasnt willing to start training camper earlier for Mwyeather Sr.. I cant blame him because alot of us do the same as i do, but the level hes at he cant afford to live both life styles, i would give it up all partying, drinking, weed forever if I was at that elite level always thinking of who i can beat to become better known and better looked at.. and sit back when i'm older more mature and spend all the millions i didnt blow.
Cotto seems no go at hes own pace when seeing these training videos, trainers need to be harder on these guys keep them in check boxing has got alot to do with discipline and if you slacked of he be there to kick your ass alot of guys came up from the regular boxing class to the Fighters class, alot of them quit usually there first time sparring or after they couldn't handle the trainer and.. the trainer should decide when you eat sleep and train in camp.. if you really want to be the greatest your trainer is the one who is suppose to make that happen.. alot of these guys don't seem as disciplined, especially when they are not fighting and blowing huge in weight.
This is what Mayweather would do to cotto like hes doing to hatton no ****ing around... Mayweather will put him inline Mayweather dosn't take any **** could do wonders for Cotto.xLast edited by skyler; 04-09-2009, 11:06 AM.Comment
