In Defense of the WBC, Bradley was given special treatment for fighting Holt instead of making his mandatory defense. That was the deal of the fight and the rules of the WBC.

I don't agree that with the mandatory defense rule especially when it is a champion vs champion unification match. Unification matches should be an exception to any mandatory defense rule.

Fighters need to band together and collectively say to all the orgs,

                "**** you and your fees".

i wish that would be the case but as much as these belts sucks, it's also what's keeping boxing a world wide sports. not everyone can be an hbo fighter. for the local fighter who has one of these belt, it's their meal tickets

In light of this, it's amazing how Hopkins was able to keep all four belts (WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO) together for even one defense.

Not if the entire boxing community says it together though.

What exactly do the abcs do but collect fees?

The belts to the fans don't matter simply because theres so many of them that even hardcore fans have a hard time keeping up with.

Once the fighters realize that these orgs are more of a pain in the ass than helpful, then you'll see the trend of fighters not caring about the belts at all.
