Wright vs. Williams - The Pre-Fight Report Card

By Cliff Rold - Any talk at 160 lbs. about a big fight, a fight anyone would want to see, has centered in recent months on two people who will not be the ring this weekend.

Saturday night will be a chance to change, or at least add, to the conversation.

While it might look like it, it won’t be a classic crossroads bout. Those feature a fight clearly in ascendance against one believed to be on the decline. The former part of the equation is in place; the latter features a fighter last seen losing in competitive fashion to one of the best fighters of all-time…almost two years ago.

In other words, it’s hard to say whether or not the elder man in this battle is on the decline or not because no one has seen any evidence one way or the other. [details]

This fight ends one of three ways::

1. Calzaghe style stoppage- Winky just lays on the ropes covering up while Paul flails away until the ref has seen enough.

2. Winky gets stopped on his feet...he hasnt taken puches in over 2 years...he hasnt been training..hes been recording a TV Drama called "Winkys House"....and Paul can crack....

3. Winky Quits/ Corner Stoppage- Winky will look up and be down 9 rounds to nothing his face will be pufy and red...his eyes will be closed..and he will just say **** it..Im 37...Im rich..Im a HOF and an ATG what the hell am I doing in here with a young hungry Lion like Williams anyway??...and even If I somehow win it will get no easier because Ill have to fight Pavlik or King Arthur...**** this"

Winky's jab can neutralize a lot of things Williams does, anyways. I'm not making a pick really, it's just a gut feeling.
