    Corruption in Boxing

After reading here and there, hearing rumors, stories, allegations, etc from family, friends, boxing fans and the like, I've started to wonder, how corrupt is boxing? Is it because it's easier to control the outcome of the fight? Where as a game of soccer or football or any other game was harder because of the amount of people involved, etc. Are there any known or proven fights that were rigged?

Reason being, I was skimming over the "Was Wladmir drugged against Brewster fight?" and Don King's name was brought up, along with "mafia". Another speculation I have is that if the mafia was/is involved in fights outcome, was it just as another source of income? Or am I over thinking this.

    Your thoughts, opinions.

Just watch the Berto - Collazo and De Leon - Penalosa fights decisions and see how wide some cards were..the judges work the mafia

i read about the lamotta vs. fox fight, he confessed he trew it for a title fight. im pretty sure some matches have been riged, i mean, we already know that the mafia was envolved back in the day. maybe there's still some enflueance. but i dont think all fights are riged, most are ligit.

I spot some huge irregularites mainly on the score cards.. I wonder how much they get "paid off" if they do..

Plenty of people thought Berto did enough to win that fight, you should bring up Lewis vs Holyfield or Holyfield vs Valuev for better examples.

Yes I know that was a real close fight but I mean how wide was a card that shows a 116-111 in favor of Berto.. thats sick

Julie lederman was one of the judges for the Holt/D. Hopkins fight and she gave the fight to D Hopkins while the other two judges gave it to Holt comfortably for SD win for Holt. The Mayweather/De La Hoya fight, the judge who gave the fight to Oscar had to be paid to score the fight for Oscar.

Back when Jorge Arce went up from 108 to 112, he fought in a WBC title eliminator afterwards he fought for the interim title instead of fighting the champion Pongsaklek Wonjongkam whom on the other hand fought a non title fight the day after Arce fought for the Interim Title, so it seemed both were ready for the match BUT NO, they both defended the title two days apart from each other Arce fought Hussein (rematch) and Pong fought Naito, the funny thing is that Arce went on to defend the Interim version 3 more times while Pong defended his two more times during the same period. Isn't this some corrupt s**t.

Whhhhhhyyyyyyy T.F has Vernon Forrest not defended his title against Sergio Martinez, what does this guy have to do to get his shot. The guy won his title eliminator back in Abril of 07' won the Interim version over Bunema and defended against Cintron since then Forrest had his shot at Baldomir, defended against Piccirillo, lost to Mora, recovered it and NOOOOOOOWWW he's facing Jason LeHoullier and the WBC hasn't stripped him...
