    Define an All Time Great

I think peoples definitions of an All Time Great can be very different.

To many, an ATG means top 100, all time. But that becomes problematic as time goes by. If a guy is ranked 100 as an ATG, all he needs is one guy to bump him and he's no longer an ATG? Seems ****** to me.

What is your definition of an ATG?

I like that but the same applies. You would have to boot someone out if someone else is better.

        i don't think it's strictly top 100 = ATG, but it's roughly an accurate description i think

with the history boxing has at present, a chosen 100 seems to be an exclusive enough category, while also being able to incorporate all deserving boxers

well it's all subjective, i dont think there can be a limit on ATGS because boxing will go on for a long time yet. boxers who dominated their division and were top fighters of their era.

out of todays fighters floyd mayweather, manny pacquiao, roy jones, bernard hopkins and joe calzaghe fit the bill. oscar lost to too many top oponents and doesnt have the defences (hopkins, calzaghe) or the weight classes that mayweather, pacquiao and jones almost flawlessly dominated.

That sounds good to me. I agree. The top 100 has to go though. This sport has too great of a history for only 100 ATGs.

This is a good list of requirements, although i think having 3 or 4 of them is enough

Hard to define exact placement unless you have a mentally stored top 100 list. It's all subjective. IMO, ATG is simply a fighter that wasn't just gr8 in his era, but coulda been gr8 in other eras, or was comparably dominant during his career run as other gr8s were before him.
