Looks like unbeaten Olympic heavyweight gold medal winner Odlanier Solis (13-0, 9 KOs) and longtime heavyweight contender Fres Oquendo (29-5, 18 KOs) will collide on the May 22 ESPN2 show. The bout will take place at the famous Fontainebleau Hotel directly on Miami Beach. The bout will be a step up in class for Solis, who has impressed against lesser competition. Oquendo is coming off a controversial split decision loss to James Toney in December.
I am and have been very excited about Odlanier. He's not as tall as the other HW's, but has decent size(6'1-6'2, has fast hands, hell of a punch and seems to have the skills to be very competitive in the sorry HW division) He's been stepping up his competition and is very exciting to watch! He is the Cuban boxer who defeated David Haye for the Gold Medal in the Olympics! I'd definitely like to see a rematch of those 2 down the road. Haye dropped him in that fight, but Solis came back to hurt and win convincingly......
Solis, Haye, Povetkin, Arreola, Dimitrenko are the guys i'm excited about in the division!!!!! I know they'll put the excitement back in the Heavys because its been missing.
