Former world cruiserweight champion Jean Marc Mormeck is stepping up to heavyweight and is focusing on a rematch David Haye.
The 37 year-old Frenchman, 33-4-(22), has not fought since losing his WBC and WBA titles to the Englishman in November 2007. Mormeck floored Haye in the fourth round of a thrilling battle before Haye rallied and eventually stopped the exhausted Mormeck in round seven.
Following a long lay off Mormeck is moving north to trade punches with the big hitters and Haye is his No.1 target.
“I would like to have revenge against him,” Mormeck told French newspaper L’Equipe. “I am aware of the impact of his punch, I am not crazy. But I deeply believe that I can beat Haye, it is my final target.
“I am not issuing a challenge, what I plan to do is do things in the right way, achieve fights before I get to fight him again.
“Yes, I make the step up to heavyweight,”
If a fight with Mormeck was to happen it would not be anytime soon as the Londoner has struck a three fight deal with heavyweight champions Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko , the first fight takes place against Wladimir on June 20.
Hmmmm..... Pretty interesting move by Mormack, and i don't know whether is a good move for him. Think he could of stayed at Cruiserweight, were i think he could of got himself back in the mix with the elite and looked for a showdown with Adamek.
Last time a weight drained Haye was to much for him in his own country , and i dout things would be very differrent at heavyweight.
