Give the guy a break, his grasp of English is tenuous at best. None of my Korean friends could probably even handle his level, English education over here in East Asia is largely rote and imperfect to say the least

i got some korean friends one of them had just came to usa when i lived in ******ia and he could read and write and type it pretty good actually

Exactly, in the US - he was prepared to study/work abroad and thus likely had a much higher than average level through strenuous personal effort/special English education. That said you are correct that people tend to be able to read and write much better than speak or comprehend, but basic mistakes still run rampant in composition. Reading comprehension is the only thing emphasized in the educational system here or in Korea.
