    Tyson Film in NYC, 4/7

Mike Tyson is often thought of as one of the greatest heavyweight champions of all time. FALLEN CHAMP: THE UNTOLD STORY OF MIKE TYSON is a documentary film that “details the way Tyson’s life fell apart even as he achieved [his] greatest professional success…” – Ken Tucker, Entertainment Weekly

Fallen Champ: The Untold Story of Mike Tyson will be shown as part of the Stranger than Fiction weekly documentary series.

Two-time Oscar winner Barbara Kopple offers multiple views on the controversial boxer in a film rarely seen since its initial release in 1993. The film covers the early and most fascinating part of Mike Tyson’s boxing career. Shot while he was serving time in prison, the film considers how a fighter with such ferocious skills could allow personal demons to bring him down. It gathers familiar coverage of Tyson’s ring career and revealing footage of his struggles to channel his aggressions into positive conduct.

After the screening, enjoy an exclusive Q&A session with director Barbara Kopple. Following the show, we’ll head to 99 Below (99 MacDougal Street) for discussion and tasty drink specials.
