  • Oh ****, Pacquiao is hurt, fight may be postponed!

    Disaster Strikes: A SolarPlex Exclusive

    By David Chen

It seems that the boxing world has received an unfortunate setback. A
source close to the There Will Be Blood Fight Show revealed that Manny Pacquiao has just suffered an accidental injury during his preparation to face off against Ricky Hatton on May 2nd. According to the source, Pacquiao hurt his lead foot during roadwork, which would make it the right foot for the southpaw slugger.

An injury to either man before this fight is the worst thing that could
happen. If this accident is indeed severe enough to hamper Pacquiao, the
fight should be postponed until he can recover properly so both fighters can
have a full training camp, because at the end of the day this fight has the
potential to be one for the history books and nothing would be worse than for
a matchup such as this to be plagued by question marks. A mega million dollar
fight like this will survive being put on hold to make sure everything goes
according to plan. The fans want to see both fighters at their best against
each other and will certainly wait until the moment is right.

There is one factor which might reveal itself as a result of this
development, and that is Pacquiao’s pride as the representative of the
Philippines . Ideally, there would be no pressure coming from his fan base for
him to take on the fight when he is not ready. Pacquiao has always been seen as an extraordinary athlete and his ring success is a direct result of his gifts.

Pacquiao possesses blazing hand and foot speed, which forms the backbone
of his dynamic offense. It is because of these advantages that he has been
favored by many in the boxing community over Ricky Hatton. A foot injury is
the biggest handicap for a fighter like Pacquiao, who will certainly need his
body to be at peak condition in order to properly take on a fighter like Ricky
Hatton. There isn’t much that can be done other than to stay tuned and hope everything turns out alright.

not a big deal. he hurt his foot not his hand and he did it while running so it can't be that bad.

IF this does happen to be true, and Hatton wins, it takes away from his victory because people wil say Pacquiao was hurt. As if they wouldn't already have said "Manny's naturally smaller, Hatton's too big", but I wouldn't think that'd be a big deal really.
