So Povetkin just wooped Estrada's ass. I didn't get to see the fight yet, can anyone say how he looked since the description was that it was a 'hard fought' fight even though Povetkin won on a comfortable scorecard lead.
How did Povetkin Look?

He looked rusty like the guy above me said but he was still a league above Estrada. He almost ko'd Estrada, Estrada talked all this **** before the fight saying he was a better version of Eddie Chambers and so on. And Eddie Chambers fought the Povetkin who didn't have a 1 yr life because of injuries and Eddie Chambers didn't nearly get KO'D like Estrada did. Estrada won the first couple of rounds, most people gave estrada about 2 or 3 rounds.Comment

He didn't 'woop Estrada's ass' at all. The judges got it right, but although Povetkin was edging the rounds he never dominated and never hurt Estrada until the final round.. and the commentators over-hyped that IMHO (I didn't see any 'almost KO'd'). Estrada never hurt Povetkin of course, but that's simply because he has no power as his KO record (or lack of it) shows. He landed some cracking punches throughout the fight though, catching Povetkin as he came forward, and had they come from Haye or one of the Klits Povetkin would have been in deep do-doos.
In fairness, though, Povetkin was clearly ring-rusty and not as fit as he should be, and Estrada was a canny choice of opponent in the circumstances. He is not ready for a title fight - Wlad would have destroyed him on tonight's form - but may well become so over the next couple of years, he has unusual skill for a HW, and deceptive speed in his punches. Easy to see why he dominated as an amateur.Last edited by The_Visitation; 04-04-2009, 08:01 PM.Comment

Povetkin was rusty, and the first six rounds were fairly close.
But Sasha dominated in rounds 7-9, and then came close to stopping Estrada in the 10th. In the late rounds, Estrada had to keep holding to survive.
Sasha was barely able to walk after the injury, so considering that, he did well today. He needed a determined opponent like Estrada to help get him back to his peak form.Last edited by The Hammer; 04-04-2009, 09:01 PM.Comment
