u should watch the vid JB posted here yesterday... hatton in his younger years as a fighter was a bit more technical... the footwork was solid & the head movement was superb...

he was @ his technical best however in the ben tackie fight... watch those & be enlightened a bit...
i'll post it again....it was hatton vs gilber quiros....and i think after samurai sees it, he will take back that hatton's body shots are overrated....put the guy down for good while....quiros started his carear at ww....

It's like he's just moving his feet for the sake of it rather than actually doing anything smart with them. At least, how he moves can occasionally look dumb. Why does he remind me of a demented skinhead dancing? I don't know how else to describe what he does.

He does close distance quickly, and I guess some would consider this fast, smart footwork, but I don't see anything special about rushing at an opponent like this. Against Pac, I get the feeling he will use a similar style to what he's used to -- rushing in, swarming, making it rough -- but at the same time trying to use his head and out-think Pacquiao, use more head movement, attempt to pull off smart footwork, and try to create angles in order to get to Pac's body. But out of this, I see a confused style that could prove to be unsuccessful. To win, I don't think Ricky should do anything except rely on his instincts. Floyd Sr. could actually be his downfall in this fight. Ricky wll end up trying to execute a game plan like he's reading it from a book, putting in a stiff performance where he's trying too hard and having to think too much.

Of course, I could be over-analyzing it, but sometimes you need to ramble on for a minute.

            No,it is seriously underrated.

It's not brilliant, but he steps in pretty quickly considering the type of fighter he is. More natural speed than technique.

I agree that trying to execute a game plan that doesn't fit to his style could be disastrous. I'm skeptical of how much he's really improved, or if these refinements can even be considered improvements as they may detract from his strengths.

Wow thanks for that JB. You can definitely see that Hatton has very good footwork, brutal punching power and is actually really quick. Pacquiao won't know what hit him..

Meaning: for that particular round, it was. He ended up getting clocked by Lazcano and then took a minute off to tie his bootlaces.

I stand by the other comments -- his body punching is overrated, people talk as though he beats every opponent with body shots, which is a load of crap. He is a slightly one-dimensional -- this is nothing new. And he was nowhere near Floyd's level on the inside.
I know Hatton as got atleast 8 KOs by bodyshots, chances are hes got a few more than that because i haven't seen many of his early fights.
