People like you keep quoting one example, Holyfield, as someone who didn't, while ignoring the literally hundreds of examples of lineal champions who did.Originally posted by vitali1999 View PostThe lineal champ huh? So was Holyfield in 1987, did he get an imidiate shot, no. He didnt get his shot till 2 months shy of 1991. He 6-0-6 before his shot, and he didnt get knocked down either.
Michael Spinks got an immediate title fight with Larry Holmes when he moved up to Heavyweight.
Bob Foster got an immediate title fight with Joe Frazier at Heavyweight.
Billy Conn got an immediate title fight with Joe Louis at Heavyweight.
Stanley Ketchel got an immediate title fight with Jack Johnson at Heavyweight.
Sugar Ray Robinson got an immediate title fight against Joey Maxim at Light Heavyweight.
Hopkins got an immediate title fight with Tarver at Light Heavyweight.
Sugar Ray Leonard got an immediate title fight with Marvin Hagler at Middleweight.
Roberto Duran got an immediate title fight with Wilfredo Benitez at Jnr Middleweight.
Henry Armstrong got an immediate title fight with Barney Ross at Welterweight and then with Lou Ambers at Lightweight.
Manny Pacquiao got an immediate title fight (admittedly not lineal) with David Diaz at Lightweight, and then with Hatton (for the lineal title) at Jnr Welterweight.
And there are hundreds of other examples, so why the obsession with Holyfield?Last edited by Dave Rado; 04-03-2009, 06:31 PM.

ahh
Why do you gotta bring up the past, your comparing this loud mouth glass chinned beefed up Cruiserwieght to Great former champs, sham on you for that, you have no right to compare this wanna be to real greats. They got imidiate shots because they were good, not becuse they continuosly picked them selfs off the canvas, people like you need to write the facts right.Originally posted by Dave Rado View PostPeople like you keep quoting one example, Holyfield, as someone who didn't, while ignoring the literally hundreds of examples of lineal champions who did.

I brought up the past because you said it's not normal for a lineal champion moving up in weight to get an immediate title shot, which just shows you know nothing about boxing history. It's happened hundreds of times, and is perfectly normal.Originally posted by vitali1999 View PostWhy do you gotta bring up the past, your comparing this loud mouth glass chinned beefed up Cruiserwieght to Great former champs, sham on you for that, you have no right to compare this wanna be to real greats. So when I proved you wrong about that, you say "Why you gotta bring up the past?" LOL! What a cry baby.
They got immediate shots because they were lineal champions.
So did Haye.
He's not a beefed up Cruiserweight, he moved up because he could no longer make the weight. He'd had trouble making the weight for a couple of years before he moved up.
Your bias is so extreme it's pathetic.Last edited by Dave Rado; 04-03-2009, 06:37 PM.

I'm not comparing anyone with anyone. You said it is not normal for a lineal champion to get an immediate title shot when they move up and I proved you wrong, and you're too bloody minded to admit it.Originally posted by vitali1999 View PostFact is your comparing this wanna-be to all time greats, thats pathetic. I've made no predictions about this fight at all, other than to say that Haye is the big underdog, and to analyse what I think his strategy has to be - and I pointed out that Wlad is a far more effective fighter now that he was when he lost to Sanders - so how would I look ******? If Wlad wins I'll give him full props.
If Haye wins, you'll look ******, though, after the ridiculous things you've said about him. And you certainly don't give the impression of being someone who would give him props if he does win, which means you're not a true boxing fan.Last edited by Dave Rado; 04-03-2009, 07:27 PM.

Well
Iv been a boxing fan long enough to know im not gonna have to give Haye credit, because he will be knocked out, i promise you. Wait, you will see. And i never said it was not normal for a lineal champ to get a shot, you have me confused with somebody else. I said he doesnt deserve a title shot, which he dose not.Originally posted by Dave Rado View PostI'm not comparing anyone with anyone.
