Brewster: “Haye Has One Percent Chance of Beating Wladimir”

Well, it looks like I’m not the only one that thinks that Wladimir Klitschko will be planting British heavyweight David Haye in the third round on June 20, it looks as if former World Boxing Organization heavyweight champion Lamon Brewster also thinks that Wladimir will win quite easily. According to ********boxing.com, Brewster said that Wladimir Klitschko has a 99% percent chance of beating Haye, because Wladimir is a “natural born” heavyweight and isn’t someone that has recently moved up in weight like Haye has.
I’d have to agree with Brewster 100%. Haye’s too small, hasn’t fought anyone and seems to be taking a big gamble against Wladimir. Haye would be much better off if he worked his way to a heavyweight title match instead of talked his way.
At least by doing that Haye know whether he had what it takes to beat a fighter of the talent Wladimir. Instead, Haye seems to be spinning a wheel, and taking a huge risk in hopes of striking it big with an upset win. If he loses, he was supposed to lose because of his lack of experience at heavyweight and his lack of size.
If Haye wins, then it suggests that Haye is a great fighter in the minds of some of his biggest boxing fans. A victory over Wladimir, even it does happen, doesn’t prove much to me, because Wladimir is already known for having a weak chin and he’s the type of fighter who’s at risk against any fighter with a lot of power like Haye.
Wladimir has already been stopped by Brewster, Corrie Sanders and Ross Puritty, so a loss to Haye wouldn’t be that much of a surprise for me. Brewster, however, doesn’t give Haye much of any chance unless Wladimir comes in out of shape for the fight, which isn’t going to happen because Wladimir never comes in out of shape.
If there’s anyone out there that knows how to beat Wladimir it’s Brewster, who stopped Wladimir in the 5th round in 2004. The victory for Brewster put him on the heavyweight map and gave him the WBO heavyweight title, which he successfully defended three times before losing to Serguei Lyakhovich in 2006.
Brewster lost in a rematch with Wladimir in July 2007, losing by a 6th round stoppage. However, it was Brewster’s first bout coming off a year layoff from boxing due to an eye injury he sustained in the Lyakhovich bout a year earlier.
Brewster would like nothing better than to get a rematch with Wladimir now that Brewster has picked up a couple of wins under his belt. However, for Brewster to do that, he’s going to have to beat a handful of other fighters in order to get a shot at Wladimir or whoever comes out on top of the Haye vs. Wladimir fight in June.
It would be interesting to see how Brewster would do against Haye should David get by Wladimir. Brewster can take a heck of a shot and keep coming. He also has excellent power and is a classic pressure fighter. My guess is that if Haye wasn’t able to take Brewster out in the first five or six rounds, Haye would find himself eating a lot of leather and ultimately taken out.
I doubt Haye would opt to fight Brewster unless Haye absolutely had to win Brewster being his mandatory challenger, because Brewster is all wrong for him.
