Cotto open to fight winner of Pacquiao-Hatton
    (abs-cbnnews.com)

Newly-crowned WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto said that should the winner of the Manny Pacquiao-Ricky Hatton match pose a challenge, he would certainly welcome it.

Cotto had just beaten British boxer Michael Jennings at the Madison Square Garden Saturday (Sunday in Manila) to win the WBA title.

The Puerto Rican boxer said he would not mind making himself available for the winner of the Pacquiao-Hatton bout on May 2.

"There's the winner of the Pacquiao-Hatton fight," he said in an article written by ESPNs Dan Rafael. "If the winner wants to fight me, I'm here."

Cottos victory over Jennings was his much-needed rebound after losing the WBA welterweight title to Antonio Margarito last year.

Cottos promoter Top Rank executive Bob Arum, however, is leaning more into pitting the Puerto Rican against stablemate Pacquiao.

"I would think that if Miguel now beats Michael Jennings and wins his fight against whomever it is in June, and Manny Pacquiao beats Ricky Hatton, why wouldnt I try to make a match between two of my best fighters?" Arum said days before Cottos victory.

Arum said that at present, a Cotto-Mosley rematch is not "economically sound". The Puerto Rican was still the WBA title holder in 2007 when he outpointed Mosley during their first match up.

"Economically, it may not make the most sense. There might be other fighters that fit the bill more economically to make the biggest purse for Miguel," he said.

          Hatton will not fight Cotto.

If Hatton wins he will fight either Marquez or Mayweather if he comes back.

Pac might fight Cotto because of the Top Rank connection, and Pac's willingness to fight bigger guys.

Hatton knows he's no good at 147, he doesn't want no part of WW.

I agree Hatton wont wont fight Cotto if he wins. Hell fight JMM or PBF if he comes back.

Pacquiao may fight Cotto tho, becuse after Hatton the only guys who can bring him the most money is either PBF(if he comes back) and Cotto.

Anyways I think Cotto KTFO both.

And Pacquiao has no bussines fighting at WW. Let Alone Cotto. But if he is going for it. Atleast he is going against the best.

Hatton fans are richer than Filipino's.

Filipino fans are more fanatical. This does not neccessariily mean there are more Pacquiao fans than Hatton fans just because more turn out to a press conference.
