Khan vs. Barrera - Warren Responds To King's Complaint

Promoter Frank Warren has voiced his take on Don King's recently filed petition to overturn Amir Khan's technical decision win over Marco Antonio Barrera, which took place on March 14 in Manchester. Barrera suffered a bad gash, from a clash of heads, in the first round and the blood poured out like a river until the fight was finally stopped in the fifth and went to the cards. King filed a petition to have the decision changed to a no-contest, writing that Barrera's vision was severely impaired from the blood and the fight should of been stopped in the very first round. He is also pushing for an immediate rematch. [details]

What an idiot Warren is LOL..

"The cut stoppage did him a favour" because "he was well on the way to being halted anyway"

He was losing because he was cut in the first round!

Just give him a rematch if you're so confident..

I wouldn't mind a rematch later down the line, but only after MAB has recovered from this recent prone-to-cuts thing. In the meantime, Khan should start stepping up and getting into this mix for the 135 titles left behind by Campbell and JMM (who obviously still has them, but I assume will relinquish once he gives 140 a try).

To be fair you could tell in the first 30 seconds than Khan was pretty sure to win, Barrera didn't look that bad but he was slow and immobile.

You could say the same about Frazier in his first fight with Ali, Marciano in his first fight with Jersey Joe Walcott, and any number of other examples of a slow pressure fighter winning in the late rounds against a fast, athletic fighter, after being apparently outclassed early.

It should have been a NC and Warren's a prick to say otherwise; and Khan would benefit from the test that an uninjured Barrera could provide over 12 rounds.

warren is a twat...he knows along with amir khans camp that the cut helped them big time...i agree with what some people have stated already...mayb MAB was slow to begin with but to get a cut that severe and have ur vision impaired the way he did of course he was going to look rubbish...to be fair to MAB he tuk a lot of shots and never once looked hurt.

i hope for a rematch because i believe MAB cud give khan a lot of problems in the later rounds and id like to see how amir would cope with that. as for amir if there is no rematch he HAS to go for a title now...dnt 4get MAB came up a weight to fight amir...warren knows how to protect his fighters...amir khan...im still not impressed

No that isn't a fair statement. People like Khan start strong and people like Barrera start slow. It's in the later rounds that the tide turns as the speedy guys succumbs to the pressure after tiring from so much movement.

lets get a rematch, it makes sense, and barrera would have turned it around im sure of it, khan cant take a punch and he cant give one either, he has to power only speed.
