If Calzaghe hadn't retired when he did, everyone wanted him to fight either Dawson or Hopkins. No one wanted him to fight Froch. Froch has only just got to the point now where he can call out fighters of that calibre without looking silly - and even then, only if he can beat Taylor. It's unfortunate for him that he reached that level about a year too late to get a fight with Calzaghe, but there's no need for him to endlessly harp on about it and to endlessly trash talk someone who is now retired.
Froch - "I Can Still Knock Joe Calzaghe Out Easily"

Eubank was the overwhelming favourite to beat Calzaghe in 1997.Comment

Ps. He called calzaghe out when he was active.Comment

That's what some people said afterwards. At the time, Eubank was the overwhelming favourite.
And although he has weight problems he was far from shot - he actually fought very well in that fight, and had two epic fights with Carl Thomson at Cruiserweight after that.Comment

Of course he was, but this is boxing history revised to make calzaghe look even better.
The same way Jeff Lacy became the best prospect ever to come out of the USA before he lost to Joe, the same way Kessler won 4 rounds against him and all of a sudden becomes all time great in waiting.Comment

He's not active any more, so he needs to forget about it now.Comment

See what im talking about, he wins a belt, then defends it against one of the best in the sport straight away, no branko sobots, or Will Mc Intyre's.Comment

And Kessler had virtually cleaned out an admittedly weak division before he fought Calzaghe. He's probably not a great in waiting, but he's ranked the best Super Middleweight currently by almost every respected boxing expert, including The Ring. He would be the overwhelming favourite to beat the Froch-Taylor winner.Comment

You're the one revising history - it was the US boxing press that hyped up Lacy at that time and almost no one in the US thought at that time that Calzaghe had a chance.

Kessler is way overrated by some on this board, I dont give a f.uck where ring rank him, we need to see him against more top comp before, people start sliding down his pole about how he could beat dawson and taylor easy and such and such.
Same old **** mate, Ive have never once denied Calzaghe is world class, but some of these **** riders need to use a femidom when they are riding joe about how great he is.Last edited by Technical_Skill; 03-30-2009, 03:25 PM.Comment
