Only thing I could think of if this did infact take place is Arum securing his next big star. Seeing as how Manny has 2 more fights or so left, he knows one of his biggest cash cows will be leaving. He needs to get a new star or cash cow of his equivalence to pick up when Manny leaves. Thus, he gets Manny in against the bigger and probably stronger Chavez Jr. whose very young and beating someone like Manny will be huge for Mexico and a follow in of his fathers footsteps. It's just sad that he'd sacrifice Manny in for the $$$ knowing Manny is almost through.

Except that Chavez Jnr is a journeyman. So that doesn't make sense.

I believe Roach is less cynical than that - it's not like the DLH fight where DLH was still considered to be an elite fighter. Everyone knows Chavez Jnr will never be an elite fighter.
