In the end, Margarito would have still beaten Cotto on July 26 08

To the thread starter, have you ever been in a fight? Only your post stinks of ignorance as to what it's like taking punches in a fight.
If Margarito didn't have plaster of paris Cotto wouldn't have gotten so busted up and dispirited. He would have continued the pressure and possibly knocked him out in Shane Mosley fashion.Comment

in the deposition after the fight margarito's trainer said that he uses the same wraps every time, and he's used them in his other fights well looky here. Above are the wraps margarito used taken as evidence, see the blood stain on lower left corner?
Now here are pics of him in his victory over cotto:

see the same blood stain there on that wrap? That's proof that the same wraps he used in mosley's fight (correction: ATTEMPTED to use LOL) were the ones he used in the cotto fight. Thus he used plaster against cotto as well...case closed /threadComment

Do i think he used loaded wraps for that fight? Yes. There should not be a loss on Cottos record.
but there are facts...
Margarito did not have plaster on his chin. He ate Cottos best shots that allowed him to keep applying pressure through out the fight.
Wraps dont give you super powers that magically guide your arms to the target, the punches that Margarito landed, were landed by him. And he was ahead on 2 score cards because of that. He still landed a **** load of punches for points with the judges because of his work rate.
In the end, Cotto still succumbed to Margaritos pressure. He didnt quit because his face was swollen, he quit because he was exhausted from throwing upward punches at a 5 foot 11 guy through 11 rounds that wasnt reacting to the many punches he threw.
This just plain dumb.Comment

your logic is completely flawed. first of all the REASON cotto was not able to apply as much pressure as normal and not hit as hard as normal is because he was not fighting off his backfoot as he normally does. This is because he was constantly on his bike in that fight cus he respected margarito's punching power way too much. why did he do that? Obviously cus he can FEEL the weight of the plaster of paris punches and they were hurting him far more than any other boxer's punches would have. So logic follows that if margarito didn't use plaster, cotto would have sat down on his punches as he normally does and not thrown arm punches off the front foot and thus would have KTFO margacheato.
regardless, cotto fought the wrong fight, but that said, its possible cotto could've still won if margo didn't use plaster, although there is no proof that he did, but a strong probability that he did.Comment
