Eddie Chambers is on the road to underachievement

When I look at Eddie Chambers I see a guy with incredible handspeed. Handspeed that is even rare in Cruiserweights. The way he can snap his jab and right hands is quite impressive. He's also capable defensively. While not a special defender, he can pick off enough punches and move his feet enough to not get hit cleanly often.

Unfortunatly when I look at Fast Eddie, I also see an overweight fighter. A guy who should be no higher than 205 pounds. It's what I believe leads him to being so inactive in the ring. With that lack of power, and gift of handspeed he should be pumping his jab every chance he gets. Instead we see an over calculated fighter who doesn't throw enough punches.

Does he truly want it? Against Povetkin I feel like he let the fight get away. He was simply outworked by a guy who looked like he wanted it more. If he's not a true Heavyweight at his proper weight then why not campaign at Cruiser? I understand it's probably a money thing, but unless he decides to be more active, he'll never reach the mountain top of the Heavyweight division.

Boxing has to be one of the hardest jobs in the world. And boxers have every right to look at boxing as their job and not their whole life. Still...

I don't really follow the current Heavyweight scene that much, but when I do watch these current guys fight it looks like a lot of them seem to treat boxing as just another job where they punch a clock and can't wait to go get a beer after work. It doesn't seem like they have a job that they're really passionate about.

Take Hopkins, for example. I've never met the guy, but he gives off the impression that he lives and breathes boxing. It's almost like if he could do it, he'd probably bring the gym with him on vacation.

Maybe it's harder for bigger guys to stay in shape? Maybe if the prestige came back to the division in America that would motivate guys more?

But with Chambers, like you said, "Does he truly want it?" He does seem to be overcautious about being countered.

It might be his mentality to be overly cautious in the ring. It will always haunt him because he doesn't hit hard enough to do that.

I think the samething , my man has sick fast hands , but his lack of power and abundance of gut , will cost him , and the older he gets the worst all of these things will get , Chambers is DOOMED to be an OK fighter that never made it !
