    Racial Genetics in boxing

Is there any benifit or hinderince from being Black, White, Samoan, Mexican, Asian ect?

ie - White guys cut bad, Samoans have bigger bone structures and take a punch better?

Just curious what the general feel is here

There are plenty of myths, but I don't know of any credible scientific evidence which supports them. Maybe someone will point me in the right direction.

IMO, most of this bull**** is purported by white folks who don't like being beaten by non-whites: He won because of genetics and a fifteen inch schlong.

    Phooey.

Definitely not a myth about races and genetic body structure, but as far as having better chins, cutting easier than others, that's more of the individual themself.

no such thing as racial genetics, only human genetics and how being part of a certain family(lets say a long line of athletes like your fathers an athelete, your mothers an athelete and both their parents were athletes etc) will effect how your genetics are put together and how they've adapted to situations in the past

well there are differences in skin thickness among different ethnic groups so it's possible that makes one group more (or less) prone to cutting.

I think it's more to with environment.

For simple reference, look at long distance running. Ethiopians and Kenyans dominate because they have been raised at high altitude and their muscles use and take up less oxygen. There was a study when some Swedish distance runners went over to Kenya and there bodies were working far harder than their Kenyan counterparts.

Also don't our bodies adapt to our environment?

A racial study might come up with conclusions X, Y & Z. But that does not mean fighter A has those characteristics.

Each human being is fundamentally unique.
