He actually spoke about that in a recent inteview clearing it up.

RL: It seems you've become quite the star on youtube where there is a clip of you punching yourself in the face, can you explain what happened there?

Tyson Fury: Strategical. It was strategical. I'll tell you why. Listen, Tyson Fury has never been punched hard, never ever in my career I've felt pain. I find myself in this fight, I'm playing with the lad, he has no power, he cannot hurt me, nothing can. So I in the ring, waiting to finish him off with a savage uppercut, but instead I feel like I need to know how it feels to get hit hard and the only person I know that can hit hard is me. So up goes fist into my face. It stung a bit but I managed to shake it off. I knew then and there I could take any punishment from any man and it wont do a god damn thing to Tyson Fury because I'm a god damn freakin beast.
