The uppercut is such an effective knockout punch due to its accessability to the chin. Just about anytime a well thrown punch lands right on that proverbial button, it puts the fighter down. The uppercut, rather than being thrown any harder, comes from such an angle, that when it lands undeflected, it is usually right on the chin.

i was told that a uppercut is such a brutal punch because there are thousand of nerves in your chin and if you get hit in the chin hard enough it overloads the nerves and you will blackout. if that is false dont shoot the messenger.

lets say ur right handed okay (TYSON!) a uppercut (a good one atleast) requires you to put all ur weight on ur right foot and hit..meaning the uppercut is carrying your body weight as you lean on ur foot and turn ti connect it - carries weight, a lot behind it-get me....and like he said...duh!
