Why Can't Floyd Fight Marquez Or Pacquio I Dont Get It? School Me?

Everyone cries on here, "Mayweather has no business fighting Manny Pacquio/Juan Manuel Marquez he should be fighting someone his own size a welterweight". Does anyone here realize that Mayweather is 5'8" with a 72" reach... I've never ever seen him break 150 pounds even when he fought De La Hoya or even on unofficial fight day weighins... Even though he held the Welterweigh title Mayweather's size is of a junior welterweight, why and the hell is it blasphemous for him to fight either Pacquio or Marquez? They are all pretty much the same size... And I'm a big fan of Cotto but it has been pretty obvious over the last couple years that he hasnt wanted to fight Mayweather and or has been in no rush of getting a fight with him, especially Arum, Floyd Mayweather has even openly said on ESPN, national tv. that he would love to fight Miguel Cotto and all he has to do is talk to him... Miguel Cotto has never taken one attempt of trying to get a fight with Floyd Mayweather but some how Mayweather gets all the grief about it... Berto's camp will not let him fight Mayweather.. So I guess the top welterweights people speak of are Clottey or Shane Mosley (who has turned down fights with Mayweather twice in his career)?

Nah I don't see a problem really with either fight, but I also don't see a problem with him fighting Mosley or Cotto. Some people here apparently think Cotto and Shane are too big for Floyd :wank:

As far as Cotto vs Floyd, we can go all day as to why this fight didn't happen after Floyd beating Hatton, but it wasn't a case of Cotto NOT wanting the fight. It was THE prime match up for both guys and Cotto stated he'd definitely take a fight with Floyd. Matter of fact, Floyd came out on National TV and said he didnt wanna fight Cotto (yet) because he didn't have a fanbase or he wasn't a CEO. The average person would take that as a "duck" whether it's indeed a duck or not.

floyd is too big for either jmm or pac. jmm and pac were featherweights when floyd was a 135 lber.

jmm could still make featherweight if he wasnt chasing pac.

I prefer floyd to fight mosley or cotto.

i agree with you that arum has no intention of letting floyd near any of his cash cows.

Floyd is actually closer to 5'7. Floyd is held on a whole different standard from every fighter. Nobody says anything about Hatton fighting Castillo, Lazcano, Pacquiao, and Marquez, all smaller fighters coming up in weight, but if Floyd does then its a problem? Its no secret its only because people want to see this man lose so badly.

I dont think their is any problem with him fighting Manny. Style wise, i think Manny gives more problems to floyd then Marquez. And also with Manny, at least he's fought as a welterweight. Its kinda lame for mayweather to take a fight with a guy who hasnt fought above lightweight.
